FACADE REHABILITATION
UNIVERSITY OF BARCELONA BUILDING
The challenge of the project is the rehabilitation of the current facade of the Business School of the University of Barcelona, a building designed by Francisco Javier Carvajal and Rafael García de Castro. The current facade presents important thermal problems due to the concrete structure and the aluminum carpentry.
The proposal aims to maintain the concrete grid structure as it gives character to the building but incorporating a new DOUBLE SKIN system with panels of different types of glass and thermal protection for the interior of the building. The new double skin system allows greater thermal control in both winter and summer, providing more flexibility to ventilate and reducing the acoustic impact of the exterior.
